Fire Escape Plan

Definition: A fire escape plan is a simple plan that shows how every family member can safely get out of the home during a fire, including two exits from rooms and a meeting place outside.

Parent Tip: Practice your fire escape plan with your kids twice a year, including a nighttime drill. Pick one outdoor meeting spot and make sure everyone knows to stay outside once they get out.

Why It Matters: In a fire, your family may have only a few minutes to escape. Practicing a plan helps everyone act quickly and calmly when it matters most.
