LifeVac
Definition: A Non-powered suction device used as a backup tool during a choking emergency when standard choking response has not worked. LifeVac is designed to be simple enough for anyone to use without training, including parents, teachers, daycare staff, and bystanders.
Parent Tip: LifeVac is a backup, not a first line response. The current AHA 2025 choking response should always be tried first: alternating 5 back blows and 5 abdominal thrusts (or back blows and chest thrusts for infants). If those techniques have not dislodged the object after a few cycles and the person is still choking, that is when LifeVac comes in. To use it, place the mask firmly over the nose and mouth, push down to compress the device, then pull straight up sharply to create suction. Always call 911 anytime LifeVac is used or considered.
Where LifeVac Makes Sense
- Homes with young children, especially around mealtimes
- Daycare centers and preschools
- Schools and after school programs
- Restaurants and family gathering spaces
- Camps and outdoor education settings
- Any setting where someone could choke and trained help is minutes away
Why It Matters: Standard choking response works in most situations, which is why hands on CPR and First Aid training is the foundation of every family's preparedness plan. But there are real cases where back blows and abdominal thrusts have not worked, and a LifeVac was used successfully when nothing else had cleared the airway. I carry one in my personal vehicle. It is not a magic bullet, but it is a real tool that has saved lives when traditional response failed. If you purchase one, make sure you practice. The biggest mistake I see are people not getting the mask securely placed on the face.

Designed by a Firefighter & Paramedic
First aid kits built by a paramedic, for the parents who never want to be caught unprepared.
Calm, organized, child-focused kits for the everyday emergencies families actually face. Built from real field experience, not a generic supply bag.
You're not failing. The kits are.
Most first aid kits are built for offices or stuffed with filler that has nothing to do with a child. As a paramedic, I have seen how fast a calm afternoon turns into a scary one. You should never have to wonder whether the kit in your hand has what your child actually needs.
Hi, I'm Jeremy. I built this for my family first.
I am a firefighter and paramedic, and I teach pediatric CPR and First Aid. I have run the calls and seen what families actually need in the moments that matter. So I built a kit I would trust for my own kids, organized, practical, and free of the filler that fills most kits.
