Group CPR and First Aid Training: How On-Site Classes Work for Your Team

by Jeremy Manke on Nov 01, 2026

CPR manikins and an AED trainer set up for on-site group CPR and first aid training in the Pittsburgh area.

When someone stops breathing in a classroom or collapses at work, the first person to respond is often a teacher, coworker or caregiver. Training gives that person a better chance of recognizing an emergency, call for help and taking action while emergency responders are on the way.

I'm Jeremy Manke, a firefighter/paramedic and owner of The Life Safety Pro, based in the Pittsburgh area. I teach CPR, AED and First Aid training to groups at their own locations. If you're a director, principal, office manager, program lead, or coach looking at training for your team, here's how on-site group training works.

Who on-site training is for

Childcare centers and preschools: Pediatric CPR, AED and First Aid. My Pediatric course is PQAS-approved and earns PA Keys credit.

Schools, coaches and youth programs: CPR, AED and first aid for the adults who care for kids every day.

Businesses and workplaces: CPR/AED and First Aid for employees and safety teams, with an optional fire safety add-on.

Healthcare and dental offices: AHA BLS Provider certification.

Churches and community groups: volunteers, nursery staff and event teams.

Why train as a group, at your location?

Your staff can train at your own location. I bring the manikins and training equipment to groups within about an hour of Pittsburgh.

Training built around your setting. We discuss the kinds of emergencies your team might encounter, whether that's a choking emergency in a childcare room, a collapse at a school event or a cut in a workplace kitchen.

Questions are welcome. I aim to make the class practical and comfortable, while giving each participant time to practice and demonstrate the required skills.

Participants who successfully complete the course receive certification cards valid for two years.

In-person or blended?

In-person: the full course in one session at your location.

Blended: each person completes the online portion on their own time, then I hold a shorter hands-on skills session at your location.

Both formats earn the same certification card.

In-person CPR training is a full on-site course for groups of five or more; blended training combines online learning and an on-site skills session for groups of three or more.
Two training formats for your team.

Courses and per-person pricing

Course In-person Blended

BLS Provider, AHA $75 per person $75 per person
Fire Safety (alarms, extinguisher practice, escape planning) $15 per person $10 per person when added to any CPR or first aid class

Group minimums: 5 people for in-person classes, 3 people for blended. One price per course, no matter which age groups you need.

Weekday evening and Saturday classes may be available. We'll confirm dates when you request a quote.

What the requirements say

Pennsylvania child care centers: State regulations require staff to renew pediatric first aid and CPR certification before their current certifications expire. Section 3270.31 also lists health and safety professional development topics to be completed within 90 days of hire, including pediatric first aid and CPR. Confirm your facility's specific obligations with its licensing agency.

Workplaces: OSHA's general industry standard, 29 CFR 1910.151(b), requires adequately trained first aid personnel when an infirmary, clinic or hospital used to treat injured employees is not in near proximity. Adequate first aid supplies must also be readily available. Your workplace's specific hazards and other applicable rules matter.

Your licensing agency, insurer or industry may have more specific requirements. I'm happy to help you figure out which course fits.

What a class looks like

Tell me about your group: size, course and location. The form takes about 2 minutes.

Get your quote and pick a date. Most in-person classes run 2 to 4.5 hours, and blended skills sessions are shorter. I include the expected time with your quote.

Train hands-on. Everyone practices compressions, breaths and AED use on manikins (adult, child and infant, depending on the course), plus choking response and first aid skills. Plenty of time is given to make sure you feel comfortable with these new skills in case you would ever need to use them in real life.

Complete the course requirements. Participants who meet the requirements receive two-year certification cards. Certification cards can be provided for multiple certifying organizations to meet your groups needs. There is room to put this down in the intake form.

Here's a preview of one of the skills covered in CPR training, from my child CPR video:

Stock your rooms while you're at it

Training and supplies go together. If you're outfitting classrooms, explore our daycare and school safety supplies: https://thelifesafetypro.com/collections/daycare-school-safety-supplies

I find one of two things is always lacking in regard to safety, its either the lack of training or not having the right supplies after taking the training. That is why I created the children’s first aid kits to help solve this problem.

Kids can learn too

If your school wants to teach students, read my age-by-age guide to CPR training for kids: https://thelifesafetypro.com/blogs/news/cpr-training-for-kids-age-by-age-guide

We will typically certify children that are 13 years and older. But we feel that kids should start learning life saving skills as soon as possible. That is why we will come out and provide age based group training options to let them dip their toes into safety and have information to take back and share with their family.
